Advanced Weekend of Recovery

August 8-11, 2024
Hope Springs Institute

Reawakening Our Roots:
Illuminating the Past
Shining into the Future

In the world we live in, we are all grappling with the effects of race, religion, trauma, war, wealth, poverty, slavery, and migration. This year’s Advanced Weekend of Recovery is an invitation for us to reimagine, through community, what the future could hold.

Participants will be a combination of many generations and cultures. Some of us can trace our lineage, but many know little beyond our immediate families. Nonetheless, much is stored in our DNA, including the secrets and strengths of our unique history.

Our trauma histories are grounded in our experience as individuals as well as in larger power structures, such as patriarchy and white supremacy. They have separated us from our own humanity and from one another.

The Weekend will be held August 8-11, 2024 at the incredible Hope Springs Institute in Peebles, Ohio. In our many years of retreat and conference experiences, Hope Springs has been the best space we have found to meet the needs of survivors’ restoration and recovery. Hope Springs creates the environment and safety for survivors to do deep, life-changing work.

Reawakening Our Roots will be an opportunity to decouple from toxic imprints of our trauma stories and reclaim the strength of previous generations that helped us survive. We can release ourselves from the harm done in the process and envision the healing of ancestral wounds.

Through art, movement, and a chance to process beyond just words, you will experience the rare gift of time. It will enable you to tap into the precious resources of community, deepen all you have gained in your recovery, and lay seeds for the future.

The goals for this Alumni Advanced Weekend include…

*Connect with survivors from diverse cultures and explore our differences and shared roots

*Understand the legacies, family dynamics, and the culture that formed us:

* Understand our experience of trauma within that cultural and historical context

* Honor our cultural heritages while also examining inherited toxic beliefs

* Deepen our healing by increasing compassion for ourselves and our ancestors

* Plant the seeds of compassion for future generations

* End the cycle of generational trauma

Reawakening to ourselves is a way to experience…

  • Joy

  • Connection

  • Community

  • Body

  • Soul/Smiling Heart

  • Rooting in the strengths

  • Uprooting the lies

  • Where I’m growing

In Level One Weekends, we often hear participants deeply appreciate what is provided but wish for more time and space to process, rest, share, and absorb all they experience. So, note that our Weekend will extend from Thursday evening until Sunday at 1pm. This not only allows more time but opportunities to metabolize, relax, and rest.

Alumni can arrive early during Thursday afternoon, or just arrive in time for dinner at 5:30; then we can begin to form our weekend community before we formally move into the Weekend together at 7pm. We hope early arrival will provide an opportunity for more relaxed transition to enjoy the beauty of Hope Springs; to relax, meet, and reconnect with other Alumni.

For both MenHealing and TBO, our mission is to keep registration affordable for everyone. In keeping with the realities of the program, we are deeply committed to offer scholarship funds for those who would otherwise be unable to attend due to financial hardship. If you are able, we welcome any add-on donation for your registration to support to the Scholarship fund and help support members of our community who are eager to participate in the Weekend.

Registration will be open from April 9th thru July 27th, and will include a range of options for payment.

Registration fees (inclusive of lodging, meals (Thursday evening thru Sunday lunch), and all program fees:

Triple Room Occupancy $975

Double Room Occupancy $1,100

Single Room Occupancy $2,000

Fees may be paid in full at the time of registration or you can request installment payments between registration and date of the WOR.

Our official registration opens on April 9, 2024, accessible at websites for both TBO and MenHealing and will remain open until July 27, 2024. Space is limited so we encourage you to register early.

Check-in to Hope Springs will be available starting at 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 8th.

We look forward to seeing you in August, as we embark together on reawakening our roots, and ourselves.

Paying for a Weekend:

Many survivors who are women often spend less and engage far fewer resources when it comes to their own self-care. They typically spend money on their children or families before committing to their own recovery needs. TBO wishes to provide a space for women, no matter where they are from, to create a vibrant and strong community of healing. We are committed to making Weekends affordable for each and every applicant.

We will be offering scholarships on a first come first served basis. If you are interested in being considered for a scholarship, please apply here before moving to the registration process.

We also encourage you to be bold and creative in considering other options for securing financial assistance to make it possible for you to attend a Weekend of Recovery.

Weekends of Recovery provide an unprecedented surplus of support and resources for survivors. Because of the attention to space, safety, and the ratio of facilitators to participants, they are expensive to run. We are always seeking donations and funding to support women survivors with resources and empowerment. If you are in a position to donate money or resources, please considering helping others get to a weekend.
